Argentine-Born Jazz and Tango Bassist

Argentine Jazz and Tango Bassist Born and raised in Argentina, Pablo migrated with his family to the USA when he was 12 years old. He began working professionally alongside his father, José Luis "Pepe" Motta, at the age of 15. This experience led him through many styles including Tango, Argentine Folklore, Various Latin American styles, and Jazz.

He has recorded music for and appeared in several movies, including "Wings of Courage" (IMAX), "My Father the Hero," and "Marlene Deitrich."

As a jazz musician he has freelanced extensively, performing and collaborating with many artists in the Los Angeles area such as Justo Almario, Ronald Muldrow, Bill Cunliffe, John Pisano, Ron Anthony, Rick Zunigar and even Nine Inch Nails' singer/composer Trent Reznor.

As a tango musician, he has toured with "Tango Vivo!" through several cities in the US and Canada and has visited Japan 3 times with Fernanda Ghi's and Guillermo Merlo's "Tango Dreams." He toured for two years with the Broadway hit show "Forever Tango". Most recently he directed his quintet for "Tango Buenos Aires".

He reestablished himself in Los Angeles in 2006 where he directed the The Los Angeles Tango Ensemble and his very own Jazz Trio in which he features his own arrangements and compositions. Pablo also directed the new Alternative Music Youth Orchestra at the Sol-La Academy of Music where kids played Tango,Jazz, Bluegrass, Rock and many other popular styles.

In October of 2008, he played with New York based Saxophonist Donny McCaslin as part of the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival. In 2009, Pablo played with the Mariano Loiacono Quintet as the opening act of Billy Cobham for 5000 people and in the Buenos Aires Jazz Festival 2009 with the Demogli-Motta-Giunta Trio, with the Mariano Loiacono Jazz Quintet and as a guest of New York-based Steve Cardenas.

He participated in the Jazz Camp 2008 and 2009 oganized by "La Escuelita" (Cordoba, Argentina) directed by Germán Siman where he taught privately, class harmony and improvisation and and combo instructor teaching styles, improvisation and jazz language.

In March of 2010 his first co-production will be available, Marilina Mozzoni's debut album where he was the arranger, bassist and musical director.

He lives in Buenos Aires since December of 2008 where he works as a free-lance double bassist in Tango, Jazz, Folclore and Clasical Music. He performs with his Jazz Trio and his Tango with Improvisation Quartet.
